Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology

Technology for industrialization

Welcome to the Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology (RVIST) website!

Established in 1979 in Nakuru County, Kenya, RVIST is a leading technical institute with a rich history and a strong commitment to education and development. Located just ten kilometers west of Nakuru town along Nakuru-Njoro Road, our institute was founded through the collective efforts of the leaders and people of Rift Valley Province, led by His Excellency Hon. Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi, the Second President of Kenya. Their vision was to establish an institution that would empower the youth and contribute to the region's advancement.

RVIST has played a vital role in providing quality education and generating employment opportunities for the youth, both in the public and private sectors. Our institute has become a catalyst for regional and national development. We align our vision with the Government of Kenya's Vision 2030, aiming to develop the human resources necessary to drive comprehensive national progress.

Under the patronage and chairmanship of H.E. D.T. Arap Moi, RVIST has flourished. His unwavering support has shaped our strategic plan, vision, and mission. Over the years, he has graciously presided over significant events at our institute, including our memorable graduation ceremonies.

At RVIST, we offer a diverse range of full-time and part-time courses, ranging from certificate to higher diploma levels. Our programs are structured into nine departments, including Agriculture and Mechanical Engineering, Agriculture Education and Extension, Building and Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics, ICT & Computer Studies, Hospitality and Tourism, Health and Applied Sciences, Liberal Studies, and Business Studies.

To ensure the highest educational standards, RVIST follows approved syllabi from esteemed institutions such as the Kenya Institute of Education (KIE), Kenya Accountants and Secretaries Board (KASNEB), and City and Guilds of London.
